چکیده

Abstract Background Neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR) has been reported as better indicator of bacteremia than procalcitonin (PCT), and more precise predictor mortality C-reactive protein (CRP) under various medical conditions. However, large controversy remains upon this topic. To address the discrepancy, our group compared efficiency NLCR with conventional inflammatory markers in predicting prognosis critical illness. Methods We performed a multi-center retrospective cohort study involving 536 ICU patients outcomes survival, 28- 7-day mortality. was such PCT, CRP, serum lactate (LAC), white blood cell, neutrophil severity score APACHE II (Acute Physiology Chronic Health Evaluation II) to evaluate potential Then, receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves were constructed assess compare each marker’s sensitivity specificity respectively. Results values not different between survival groups. Meanwhile, remarkable differences observed score, PCT LAC levels death ROC analysis revealed that competent predict The AUROCs effective Conclusions is less reliable assessing

Eosinophil Count and Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Count Ratio as Prognostic Markers in Patients with Bacteremia: A Retrospective Cohort Study

INTRODUCTION There is scarce evidence on the use of eosinophil count as a marker of outcome in patients with infection. The aim of this study was to evaluate whether changes in eosinophil count, as well as the neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR), could be used as clinical markers of outcome in patients with bacteremia. METHODS We performed a retrospective study of patients with a first e...

Prognostic value of lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in follicular lymphoma: a retrospective cohort study

OBJECTIVES The clinical course and prognosis of follicular lymphoma (FL) are diverse and associated with the patient's immune response. We investigated the lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as prognostic factors in patients with FL, including those receiving radiotherapy. DESIGN A retrospective cohort study. SETTING Regional cancer centre in Hong Ko...

Prognostic Value of Neutrophil to Lymphocyte Ratio on Pathologic Findings of Transrectal Ultrasonography Guided Biopsy of Prostate

Background and Objective: Prostate cancer is considered as one of the most common malignancies in males. Despite the decreasing trend during the past decade, the incidence continues to rise in adolescents worldwide. Recently, new emerging technologies beside TRUS-guided prostate biopsy were introduced and showed high potential in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The current st...

The Neutrophil-Lymphocyte Count Ratio in Patients with Community-Acquired Pneumonia

STUDY OBJECTIVE The neutrophil-lymphocyte count ratio (NLCR) has been identified as a predictor of bacteremia in medical emergencies. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of the NLCR in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). METHODS AND RESULTS Consecutive adult patients were prospectively studied. Pneumonia severity (CURB-65 score), clinical characteristics, complica...

Prognostic value of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio in breast cancer

Inflammation is an essential component of pathogenesis and progression of cancer. A high neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is considered as a prognostic indicator for breast cancer. This meta-analysis was conducted to establish the overall accuracy of the NLR test in the diagnosis of breast cancer. A comprehensive search of the literature was conducted by using PubMed, Web of Science and Chi...
